Privacy Policy — Ma Parole de Vie

This privacy policy describes how the Ma Parole de Vie application

(hereinafter "the Application") collects, uses and protects user personal

information.

2. Data collected

The Application only collects data necessary for its proper operation:

2.1 Identified account data (Firebase Authentication)

• Email address (email/password, Google or Apple sign-in)
• Display name (entered at sign-up or fetched from Google / Apple)
• Profile photo (optional): chosen from the device gallery (square crop offered), uploaded to Firebase Cloud Storage, editable or removable from the Profile screen; or fetched from Google / Apple when signing in
• Unique identifier (Firebase UID)

Sign-in is available via email/password, Google, or Apple (iOS).

2.2 Guest mode (new installations only)

On a first install of the Application, you may play without creating an account:

• No email, name, or photo is requested.
• A technical anonymous identifier (anonymous Firebase UID) is created to link your progress.
• Your XP, badges, and game history are stored on the device and, where applicable, on Firebase servers tied to that anonymous identifier.

Important: if you had already used the Application before this policy (app update), guest mode is no longer offered: you must create an account or sign in to continue. Existing local progress can be kept when you create or sign in to an account.

Guest mode does not include the leaderboard, favorites, or duels (registered account required).

2.3 Solo game data (Firebase Firestore)

• Experience points (XP), level, games played, score (journey progression)
• Game history (game type, score, XP earned, date)
• Leaderboard (public display name, score, XP)

2.4 Duels / competitions (registered account required)

Display name, invite codes, lobby membership and match results, separate from solo progress. Free, no in-app purchase. Creating, joining and starting a championship may show interstitial ads (AdMob), with an in-app notice beforehand.

2.5 Data stored locally on the device

Some information is kept only on your phone or tablet:

• Progress cache (XP, badges, games played), linked to your session identifier
• Preferences (language, notifications, background music)
• Intro completion state and session settings
• Account policy flag (new install vs account required), with no personally identifiable information

This data supports offline use and keeps progress separate between accounts on the same device.

2.6 Technical data

• Push notification token (FCM): reminders and activity alerts.
• Firebase App Check tokens: device attestation (Play Integrity on Android, App Attest on iOS) to protect Firebase services from abusive automated access.
• Server-side processing (Cloud Functions): XP gain validation, progress sync, competition join/leave, account deletion, secure password reset requests.
• Advertising identifiers (Google AdMob): used by Google to display ads.

2.7 Device permissions (on request)

• Photo library: only when you choose, change, or remove your profile photo. No background access.

The Application does not collect:

• GPS location
• Contacts
• SMS, calls
• Browsing history outside the application

3. Data usage

Data is used only to:

• Enable sign-in and profile customization
• Save and validate solo player progress (locally and, with an account, in the cloud via Cloud Functions)
• Link guest progress to an account when signing up or signing in
• Display public leaderboards (identified accounts)
• Save favorite verses (identified accounts)
• Run duels / competitions (lobby, membership, start)
• Send reminder and activity notifications (verse of the day, ranking)
• Display ads (via AdMob), including in the competition flow
• Optionally open an external secure HTTPS donation page; the Application itself does not process payments

4. Storage and security

• Data is stored on Google Firebase servers (Authentication, Firestore,

Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions), encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

• Profile photos are stored in Cloud Storage (`avatars/{uid}/`), limited to 2 MB and JPEG or PNG formats.
• XP gains and games played are validated server-side; the client cannot increase these values directly in Firestore.
• Firebase App Check limits Firebase API access to requests from a legitimate installation of the Application.
• Firestore security rules ensure a user can only access their own data (public leaderboard reserved for linked accounts).
• The Application does not store any clear-text passwords.

5. Third-party sharing

The publisher does not sell or rent your data.

Third-party services used:

• Google Firebase (auth, database, storage, notifications, App Check)
• Google Cloud Functions (XP validation, sync, competitions, account deletion)
• Google AdMob (advertising)
• Online donation provider (only if you open the donation link from Profile → Support us)
• Google Sign-In (optional sign-in)
• Sign in with Apple (optional sign-in on iOS)

Each service applies its own privacy policy.

6. Your rights (GDPR if applicable)

You have the following rights:

• Access to your personal data
• Rectification from the Profile screen (display name, photo: change or remove)
• Deletion of your account upon request at mpdvie@gmail.com
• Portability upon request
• Objection to processing for marketing purposes

7. Account and data deletion

Signed-in account (email, Google, or Apple)

You can delete your account and associated data in two ways:

#### Method 1 — In the app (recommended)

1. Open Ma Parole de Vie (MPDV)

2. Go to the Profile tab

3. Account & session section → Delete my account

4. Confirm deletion

This action (via a secured Cloud Function) deletes:

• Your Firebase account (email, name, profile photo)
• Your cloud progress (XP, level, badges, game history)
• Your leaderboard entry
• Your competition memberships / indexes (and cancellation of open lobbies you created)
• Your stored files (profile photo)

Local data on the device is also cleared. On devices where an account is required, you will be prompted to sign in or create an account again.

#### Removing profile photo only

Without deleting your account, you can remove your photo from Profile (trash icon on the avatar). This deletes the file in Cloud Storage and clears the photo URL in your profile.

#### Progress reset (signed-in account)

With an identified account, you can reset your XP, badges, and game history from Profile → Account & session → Reset everything.

#### Method 2 — By email

If you cannot access the app, send a request to:

Include the email address linked to your account. We will process your request within 30 days.

Guest mode (new install)

In guest mode, no personal identity data is collected. Progress is kept on the device and, where applicable, linked to an anonymous Firebase identifier.

Progress reset is not available in guest mode. To clear local data, you can uninstall the Application. To remove server-side traces of an anonymous guest session, contact mpdvie@gmail.com with the approximate date of use.

Data retained after deletion

No personal data is kept after deletion, except where required by law.

Firebase technical backups may persist for up to 30 days before permanent erasure.

8. Data retention

• Account data: kept as long as the account is active.
• Game history: kept for 24 months.
• Deletion upon request within 30 days.

9. Advertising

The Application uses Google AdMob. AdMob may use cookies or advertising

identifiers to display personalized ads.

Ads may notably appear:

• After some game rounds / recaps
• In the Competition flow: when opening Create or Join, when confirming create/join, and when starting the championship (with an in-app notice)

You can disable ad personalization:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of ad personalization
• iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking → Disable

10. Children

The Application is not exclusively targeted at children under 13 but may be

used by families. No data is collected for advertising purposes from users

identified as minors.

11. Changes

The publisher may modify this policy. The last updated date is indicated at

the top of the document. Users will be informed of substantial changes through

a notification in the Application.

12. Third-party content

The Application includes third-party content:

• Background music (during games, one track per journey) — compositions by

Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), licensed under

Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (CC BY 3.0):
